I have decided to post a "Romney for President" booster each week (I'll do my best) until the Convention this summer. This week I would like to discuss Mitt Romney's tenure as Governor of Massachusetts. First, I am a Reagan Conservative, ardent Pro-Lifer and practicing Catholic. If Mitt Romney can pass muster with me then, believe me, HE IS A CONSERVATIVE!!

It has been said that "the fact that he got elected in the liberal State of Massachusetts that alone must be suspect". Well, I would like to answer that charge by saying "that's a load of crap". Mitt Romney was a driving force in helping to make our state government run smoothly and efficiently. Very early in his term as governor he became suspect of the "Big Dig" and sought to remove the head of Massport for mishandling and corruption. He left Massachusetts with a surplus of over $250 million in the state coffers without raising taxes. Always a proponent of less taxes and fiscal responsibility and all the while promoting the common good. Below are some of the things that the "Mitt Romney" I know and admire did for my home state of Massachusetts:

1) Four Year State College scholarship for students performing in the top 25% of the MCAS (State Competency Test).

2) Mitt Romney Porposed and implemented "ENGLISH-ONLY" education. There is no Bi-lingualism in Public Education in Massachusetts.

3) Always governed with a Pro-life influence- promoting "Parental Notification" for teenage girls seeking an abortion

4) Fought to get the Death Penalty back in Massachusetts- failed but was a major proponent

5) Supported the Catholic Church in its fight against "Same-Sex" adoption in Catholic-run orphanges

6) Supported Traditional Marriage and spearheaded a movement for a state-wide referendum. This referendum was blocked and finally defeated by the Democrat Legislature and through the corrupt maneuverings of our new Democrat Governor- Deval Patrick.

7) Refused to give state police security to the visiting former PM of Iran- a known terrorist supporter.

8) Refused to accept the salary of Governor- instead giving it back to the people of the Commonwealth. He has made this promise if elected as President as well.

In all of Mitt Romney's career and most likely his entire life, he has always been an example of integrity and success.  Local radio talk show host Jay Severin said it best of Mitt Romney- "He doesn't need to be president, and he isn't campaigning for power or prestige. He is campaigning because he truly wants to help turn this country around".

I for one believe Mr. Severin and agree with him that "Mitt Romney is the most qualified to become President of the United States".

For the life of me, I will never understand the NH voters in their choosing John McCain as the Republican nominee for President. The McCain campaign performed an excellent job of mis-information and deception in portraying Sen. McCain as someone who will implement the "Conservative" agenda and bring change to Washington. As far as insiders go, John McCain is a veteran of decades in the Washington political scene. As for his so-called Conservative credentials, unmasking him as a closet liberal won't be difficult and I will leave it at that and not bore you with anything else. This is all you need to know- 10 little nuggets:

1.    John McCain voted against tax cuts
2.    John McCain supports open borders
3.    John McCain supports Amnesty for illegals
4.    John McCain co-sponsored the McCain-Feingold campain reform- an attack on free-speech
5.    John McCain organized the so-called "Gang of 14" which attempted to derail Conservative Judges on SC
6.    John McCain is a constant ally of that fat pig- Sen. Ted Kennedy on matters of immigration and education
7.    Whenever the Democrats need an ally- they look to the Arizona Sen. John McCain and he never disappoints
8.    John McCain supports closing Guantanamo
9.    John McCain is against water-boarding and denounces any aggressive means of interrogation
10.  John McCain will probably die before his term is over

No Conservative Republican in their right mind would ever consider this man as President.

After many debates and speeches I am endorsing the man I wanted from the start- Mitt Romney for President. He is the only candidate with the credentials, successful ones at that, to become President of the United States. I am a lifelong resident of Massachusetts and Mitt Romney was an examplary leader and most of all defender of conservative causes. I hear all the accusations from the news media addressing his so-called "flip-flopping" on issues such as abortion. First of all everyone who knew Romney always knew he was pro-life at heart and the fact that hew was made to "clarify" his position on abortion was in reaction to his pro-life tendencies. So, being a practicing Catholic and ardent Pro-Lifer, I am totally comfortable with his position on abortion. Also, in the whole Court induced "Marriage" fiasco in Massachusetts, Mitt Romney was the lone voice fighting for the Rights of the Citizens of the Commonwealth. In the face of the Judicial Tyranny we face in Massachusetts and all over the country, Romney stands high and above his contemporaries. Also as governer, he took a stand by refusing to give police protection to the visiting former Prime Minister of Iran, who was a long time supporter of terrorism. (Portection provided, by the way, by the Democrat Mayor of Boston, Thomas Menino) This is leadership and courage at its best!!!

Mitt Romney is the only candidate with real world, corporate, and private sector experience. This puts him outside the DC climate with its corruption and back-stabbing. His business accomplishments are numerous and he himself is responsible as the catalyst of the creation of over 100 businesses, most notably "Staples".  This experience was well utilized in Massachusetts when during his tenure he increased the revenue of the State Treasury without raising taxes and actually left the state with a surplus. Washington DC and the Federal government can learn a lot from this man and would set things straight in the ever-growing bureacracy which is becoming our republic. We are turning into FRANCE!!!!

As far as his Mormon faith, without getting into his belief system, Mr. Romney was quite involved at a level comparable to a pastor or bishop. This man actually listened to and counseled hundreds of men, women anc children in various problems in their lives. Any man who would take the time to listen and counsel is a man who cares, a man who loves his fellow man. We are looking at a man who is for REAL. A man of integrity, courage, intelligence and a proven leader.

This past week has been chock full of news worthy of my comment, and I won't disappoint. I would like this blog to focus on the disgraceful antics put on by Columbia University. As you all well know, Pres. Ahmidenijad was invited to speak at Columbia University during his short visit to New York to address the UN. The invitation given by University President Bollinger in the spirit of free speech and the open discussion of opposing views is an action I would normally welcome. Pres. Ahmidenijad is a person who:
 

1. - denies the Jewish Holocaust,
2. - hosts an international symposium on the Holocaust Hoax,
3. - openly advocates the destruction and annhilation of Israel,
4. - thumbs it's nose at the international community by building a nuclear weapons program,
5. - ignores the human rights of his own citizens,
6. - openly boasts and funds terrorist groups all over the MIddle East and finally
7. - is supplying and training Iraqi insurgents with weapons used to kill American soldiers

Pres. Bollinger issues an invitation to this little Hitler in the so-called spirit of enlightened intellectualism and in the spirit of an honest discussion of ideas but immediately insults and chides his guest. Though everything he said about Pres. Ahmidenijad was correct it was not his place as Host to act in this way. Pres. Bollinger's remarks were completely self-serving and without honor especially when you consider that Pres. Bollinger and Columbia University will not allow US Military recruitment and ROTC on its campus. This same self-styled open-minded seeker of Truth would not allow a representative speaker of the "Minutemen" border patrolling group to speak in a forum on Immigration and Border Security. Why?? Doesn't Pres. Bollinger want to have "open and honest" discussion on immigration and the border issues? The answer is Yes but only when it serves the Leftwing liberal agenda. Columbia cannot have conservative thought or ideas infecting the minds of its student body. But the anti-semitic, fanatical Islamic, homophobic, fascist, anti-American rhetoric of a little Hitler is OK!!!
This is absolutely RIDICULOUS!!!!

How dare he invite this Iranian joke of a leader whose country has been at war with the United States since 1979 and is currently killing US troops fighting in Iraq. Pres. Bollinger has denied US military recruitment on a campus of higher learning during a time of war whilst US troops are fighting and dying. Especially now when we need the best and brightest of recruits. This is an outrage which defies belief. 

While everything Pres. Bollinger said about Ahmidenijad was true- it was not his place to say it and in fact looked very bad breaking all the rules of etiquette.  Just like a Liberal- to be self-serving and look to bolster his own popularity and prestige. The hypocrisy is incredible and makes me sick.

As for President Bush and the administration- Ahmidenijad should never have been allowed entrance into the United States simply for the reasons I have outlined above. And one more thing- When will the US simply get out of the UN and kick the entire organization out of here and let them setup camp in Paris or Moscow.

The proceedings of this past week regarding the hearings of Gen. Petraeus were a disgrace. The Democrat Party, primarily funded by George Souros and MoveOn.org, have revealed themselves to be traitors and guilty of treason. It is time that the Republicans start speaking in these terms and begin showing these people up for what they truly are- TRAITORS. The disrespect given to Gen. Petraeus speaks volumes as to the animosity towards our fighting men and women in uniform. Gen.Petraeus represented every soldier fighting overseas in Iraq and any disrespect given him was disrespect to them. MoveOn.org took out  full page ad in the NY times calling Gen.Petraeus "Gen. Betray us." The NY Times further gave MoveOn.org a discount for the add so as to increase readership of this piece of filth. Where was the outrage from the Democrats? They say they support our troops- so where is the condemnation? There is none and there will be NONE because MoveOn.org funds the Democrat Party and they dish out the script for every Democrat elected to Congress. Like I said in my previous blog "It's the PARTY that takes precedence, not the nation and not the welfare of its citizens." Sen. Edwards had the timerity to say that he had not seen the ad nor read anything about the ad. The Democrats have continually made statements detrimental to the war effort and are in fact emoboldening and encouraging our enemy. Their statements: "bring the troops home" and  "the war is a failure" or "we are fighting a losing battle" and finally "Rep.Clyburn's (D-WA) remark "any success in Iraq will hurt the party."
This is the opportunity for Republicans enmasse to rise up and support our military. Deep down, the American people love its fighting men and women. The Democrats deep down despise our military. They see the military as the problem and their main stumbling block to the 2008 election. If the military succeeds in Iraq the Democrats lose and they know it and that is why they will do anything to stop it, by minimizing accomplishments and denigrating and insulting the war's leaders and heroes. This war is continously compared to Vietnam so as to attach a note of failure and surrender. The fact is and was that the US won every battle in Vietnam until the politicians took control and the media began each nightly newscast with the "number of dead." There are many similarities and to name a few:
1) The US military is winning in Iraq but the Dems and the media continue to show a different picture- of defeat
2) The politicians are trying to take control of war strategy again and have succeeded somewhat
3) The pullout of American troops will result in a bloodbath and civil war

The one major non-similarity is that US pullout will result in a bloodbath beyond all scope and this bloodbath will spill out over the entire region and onto our own shores and into our cities and neighborhoods. This is a war between civilizations and that is exactly how Al-Qaeda and other Islamic groups word their statements in recruiting and rousing up resistance to the US troops in Iraq. Here are the words of the purported head of the Islamic State(an Al-Qaeda ally in Iraq) , Abu Omar al-Baghdadi:

"Today we witness the fallacy of the Western civilization and the renaissance of the Islamic giant," al-Baghdadi said in a half-hour audio file.

When Vietnam fell to the Communists in 1975 a bloodbath did ensue as was predicted but the repercussions to the world was not nearly as significant as what would happen if Iraq falls to Al-Qaeda and its Islamo-fascist allies.

We cannot allow this Party of Traitors to win in 2008. I urge all concerned and patriotic Americans to condemn the Democrats for their treason and support the Republican candidate of your choice to victory in 2008.

Today is Labor Day, and as the network news stated this evening: "Labor Day is considered the unofficial kickoff date of the Presidential Election." The candidates featured were the following: Senators Clinton,Obama, Edwards and oh yes, there is a Republican candidate- Mitt Romney. See anything wrong with this picture? There are at least a dozen or so candidates, eight of whom are Republican.
The President also chose today to make a surprise visit to Iraq which was a very rousing experience if you were allowed to see it on this same network news. I listened to his visit on the radio and I heard a most rousing cheer from the troops as "OUR" Commander Chief was introduced. Yes, the officer who introduced the President made the announcement with a most distinct tone. A tone of conviction and tone full of pride. The liberal and always biased network news only showed the President in the midst of his speech. The troop morale is high and re-enlistments are way up. Why is that? And why won't the news media tell you this? The surge in Iraq is working and the troops know, the President knows it and the Democrats and the media don't want the American people to know it. Rep. Clyburn (D-SC) Majority Whip of the House of Representatives told the Washington Post that "continued success in Iraq would be a real problem for Democrats." This sort of statement is TREASON. This elected Representative of our government places his loyalty to the Democrat Party before his own country. Does that sound familar? What other nation or nations put "party" loyalty before all else? I can think of two right off the bat- Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union and other "Communist" nations. These "loyal" citizens would always speak of the "party" as the ruling force not the government or its people. Rep.Clyburn is not alone. Sen. Reid has openly spoken of surrender, Sen. Clinton the "political whore" that she is says whatever the audience before her wants to hear. First she called and voted for war against Iraq, and now she is the only candidate who can end this war and bring our troops home. Because, let's face it, that's how we can really honor and support our troops. Bring them home in defeat- again!!

Most of the Democrats won't even acknowledge that the "war on terror" even exists. It is a creation by Pres. Bush and a Republican conspiracy. This is the policy handed to them by so-called "party officials" and they all follow it. Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity to their credit have exposed this to almost anyone willing to watch or listen to their programs. The talking points of the Democrat candidates are given to them from the extreme left of the Democrat Party. It has been revealed that Democrats each day receive their summary of the day's topics from the left-wing groups like Move-On.org, NOW, NARAL, any and all Anti-War group.
Anyone reading this would think we were writing about the early days of the Nazi Party. Hitler and his goons had their ideas and anyone opposing them were quickly labeled insane, un-patriotic and criminal. Try to speak about homosexual marriage, Reverse Racism, or climate change and see what happens. The climate-change nazis are the worst at the moment. Try to disagree with someone on global climate change and you will immdiately be labeled an ignorant fool, someone who won't look at the facts. Actually someone (a blogger) did look at the facts from NASA's- Pro-climate change scientists and director and found an ERROR- The warmest decade of the century was not the 1990s nor 1998 in particular, but the 1930s.

The "PARTY" says CO2 is causing climate change, though this has NEVER occurred in the history of the planet, that is the "truth" we will tell

The "Party" says that Babies don't exist before birth then that is the "truth we will tell

The "Party" says that Euthanasia is merciful then that is the "truth" we will tellwe will tell

The "Party" says that Eugenics and embryonic or human experimentation is good for mankind, oops! I mean humankind, then that is the "truth" we will tell

The "Party" says that guns are the real cause of violence then that is the "truth we will tell

The "Party" says that the war had deatroyed our nation then that is the "truth we will tell

These statements above were the platform of the Nazi Party in Germany 1936. The Communist Party in the former USSR followed the exact same philosophy but with a more even-handed stance. The Communist Party manipulated the news and controlled the media. We don't have objective news on PBS, ABC, CBS, NBC or CNN. They have become the new "PRAVDA." George Souros is the new Goebbels. Only FOX News and Conservative Talk Radio is giving the people the truth. Everytime I watched Fox they had both liberal and conservative views presented. And on Talk Radio I have heard deep criticism of the President but equally deep support.
AMERICA needs to WAKE-UP before we see ourselves living in a totalitarian state and reading revisionist histories about our "Slaveholding" Founding Fathers.

Vote REPUBLICAN in 2008- Our Only Hope!!!

I don't know if this is such a good idea, giving away tips for victory to the party of traitors but it looks like the GOP is totally oblivious so I have to take the chance. From the grassroots movement to defeat the amnesty bill to Bill Bennett tand Sean Hannity the message has been clear to our elected GOP members- Force the Dems into admitting the following 11 points:

1) The Democrat Party supports surrender and defeat in Iraq
2) The Democrat Party does not acknowledge the existence of a War on Terror
3) The Democrat Party supports discrediting the Bush administration at all costs
4) The Democrat Party supports open borders with Mexico
5) The Democrat Party supports civil rights for terrorists and non-citizens
6) The Democrat Party supports amnesty for all illegal aliens

7) The Democrat Party supports giving up the sovreignty of the US to the UN
8) The Democrat Party supports the idea that victory in Iraq and the war on terror is disastrous to the Democrat Party
9) The Democrat Party supports only the agenda of the Democrat Party and NOT the United States and its people
10) The Democrat Party supports the largest tax hike in the history of the United States
11) An Unfair, imbalanced and complicated tax system

If our elected Republican members of Congress would simply unilaterally convene and file legislation supporting:
1) Victory in Iraq
2) Policy of no surrender on the War on Terror
3) Begin corruption investigations on Democrat members of Congress
4) Securing the US-Mexican and US-Canadian borders
5) Coercive forms of interrogation on ALL enemy combatants are to be supported and encouraged and any journalist compromising the security of the US or endangering our troops on the ground will be prosecuted for TREASON
6) All Illegal Aliens will be accounted for and deported- with the help of ALL state and civil law enforcement
7) The US resign from the UN and remove its members from our country- preferably Paris, France
8) A PLEDGE of all members of Congress support our troops and not to endanger our Troops fighting in the War on Terror. Any words or actions which supports or emboldens the enemy will be consider treason
9) An oath by all members of Congress to support the United States of America and its Constitution

10) Make the Bush Tax cuts PERMANENT!
11) Abolish the IRS and impose a Flat Tax

If the Republican members of Congress would get off their fat asses and stand together with the President, our troops and their Presidential candidates and force Congress to vote on just five or six of these 11 points then the GOP will win back Congress and keep the Presidency. Everyone and their mother in the Liberal Media and the Dems are playing up the fact that the Iraqi parliament in a time of war went on vacation. Well the fact of the matter is that the US Congress did the same thing. The GOP must take the game to these traitors- make them officially acknowledge their treasonous positions in front of the entire American people. The Democrats and their controlling left-wing are so out of touch with America they truly believe that Americans would willingly give up 40-50% of their paychecks to fund their socialist projects.
As George C Scott as Gen. Patton said- "Americans love a winner. We don't like to lose. We are born fighters." That is how the GOP must be right now- REVEAL THE DEMS FOR WHAT THEY TRULY ARE- ANTI-AMERICAN AND TRAITORS!!!

Since the Latin language is making somewhat of a comeback in the Catholic Church, for which I am absolutely ecstatic, I thought I would pay homage by using a very famous Latin phrase- Carthago Delenda Est  as the title of my blog today. These were the words spoken by the Roman General Scipio Africanus after the final defeat of Carthage in the 2nd century BC. Translated into English it reads Carthage is defeated or Carthage is no more.
The Punic Wars between the Rome and Carthage has significance to us today. In fact the significance is overwhelmng. A little background on the Punic Wars. Rome was the new upcoming power in the Mediteranean at the time of the mid 2nd century BC. The real power in the region was the Carthaginian Empire ruled by the descendants of the ancient Phoenicians hence the name "Punic" as the Romans called them the "Poenici." The Carthaginians had gained control of all of Spain, North Africa and were attempting to expand into Sicily. The Romans took this as a threat and so the clash of Titans began. We all know the amazing stories of Hannibal and his exploits against the Romans. The elephants crossing the Alps and so on, but after all his victories- and they were many, he was never able to conquer Rome. This is what is pretty much forgotten about the Punic Wars- after so many defeats, and the restructuring of the Roman Army the Romans defeated Carthage and their destruction was made certain at the end of this incredible struggle of empires. After burning Carthage to the ground and almost killing all living creatures- men, women, children and livstock- Salt was poured over the ground so that nothing would ever grow or live there again- Carthago Delenda Est!  Why such a powerful gesture you ask? And why am I talking about this anyway? Well, if I haven't already put you to sleep yet, and you've followed me this far, I am going to explain the relevance and significance in my following paragraphs.
Rome and Carthage were two great empires, the Roman Empire just beginning to exert itself while the Carhaginian Empire was "The" power at the time, controlling the Mediteranean basin. But their was something much more important which pitted these two empires against each other and that something was "Culture and Religion." Rome practiced a religion derived from the Greeks, and a culture influence by the likes of Socrates, Plato and Aristotle and ideas of democracy. The Roman Senate and the Twelve Tablets are ideas and laws handed down to us. We are the children of Greece and Rome. The Carthaginians were descendants of the Phoenicians- the ancient inhabitants of the Middle East and descendants themselves of the Philistines and Syrians. This culture was heavily dominated by a religion which had at its heart the sacrifice of humans, infants and children to be exact. This was the religion of ancient Phoenicia- the worship of the god Baal. Hannibal's name has as its suffix "bal" which honors the god Baal. In fact Hannibal's younger brother was sacrificed to Baal while Hannibal watched with his own eyes. The method of sacrifice was to cast the helpless, innocent victims into a furnace. Enough said- the realities of these atrocities frightened the Romans into an all out war of survival against these "savage" people of  Northern Africa. Are you beginning to see the connection? I hope so, because the world, OUR World is in a war of survival against a culture which practices the slaughter of innocents in the name of god. They speak of  "washing themselves in the blood of the infidel Christians and Jews." (This is an exact quote from a 5 year old Palestinian girl viewed  and heard by this writer in a Fox News Special). The Romans after many setbacks and several thousand dead actually reformed their army into the military machine which would go on to build one of the greatest empires in the history of the world. There was no surrender in the Roman Senate because they new their very survival was at stake. Is our US Senate as determined? We are in a war which will decide the fate of our country, and our culture. Even now, we are seeing court cases and other attempts by Muslim adherents to impose their Islamic laws and practices into our lives. The Imams at the Minneapolis airport praying and deliberately acting provocatively to get themselves kicked off a plane simply to file lawsuits and tying up the courts. Just yesterday in Italy two Arab Princesses from Qatar on a British Airways flight refused to sit next to men they did not know. After a three hour delay they were kicked off the flight amidst great applause. In Florida, last year Muslim women wanted to take their drivers license photo while wearing a hooded Burkha. Is this absurd or what? Make no mistake that Muslims worldwide are becoming emboldened to impose their beliefs at every chance given them. They see the West as timid and further weakened by their adherence to laws such as free speech and freedom of worship. Ten years ago, lawsuits and actions such as these would have never taken place. What has changed then over the last ten years which has emboldened these people to behave so arrogantly? Well, I will tell you what has happened- The rise of militant Islam and the complete silence to the terro by the Islamic clergy and majority of Muslims in general which infers tacit approval of these so-called extremist Muslims. I say that Islam is the problem. It is a faith which rejects all tenets of our Western beliefs and practices. They kill innocents in the name of God, they love death and embrace it with a zeal which is chilling. But still what do I hear from government represenatives- surrender!
We must be as determined as our Roman ancestors were in their fight against a sick and depraved culture of death.The election of our next President will decide the fate of our nation and most likely Western culture as well. With all our flaws, the United States is still the "Best Hope for the World" as Dr. Bill Bennett so correctly put it. Here is one American who  hopes that someday we will hear the words "Islamo-Fascista delenda est!" but for now I will take "Hillary Clinton delenda Est!!!!"

I have experienced something very disturbing in the last two weeks. Twice I have spoken with  people who I would consider conservative Christians, one an Evangelical Protestant and the other a Roman Catholic. I know each personally and have always considered them to be conservative, pro-life men but I have noticed a disturbing phenomenon. They both have been able to disconnect their personal beliefs from their political beliefs. The Evangelical Christian was trying to convince me why Hillary Clinton should be considered seriously for the Presidency. He simply recited a recent quote where she said that "abortion should be made available, safe and most importantly rare." This, statement my friend thought was a sign of a radical change in her pro-abortion beliefs. He completely ignored her voting record on abortion which has been never to restrict abortion ever, even the practice of partial-birth abortion. This "Christian" was deadly serious and thought I was biased, prejudiced and just a hot-headed extremist conservative when I tried to prove him wrong. What is going on here?
My other encounter was with a fellow Catholic who is in the business of real estate and is going through the doldrums as he put it with the current housing market. He mentioned to me that President Bush was the "lamest Lame duck president he has ever seen" and went on to blame him for the current real estate problems. I said  that this country is at war and he can't really be blamed for the housing crash. His answer: "What war? Has this country declared war?" This remark almost sent me through the roof but Mass was about to start and I told him we will finish this later.  Never caught up with him.
But in both these instances, what I was hearing was the "Leftist Media" and its daily pablum of anti-Bush, anti-war propaganda. If you have noticed that the Media has been portraying Hillary as to the right of Sen.Obama. Always to the right of her opponents. The other spiel is the notion that we are not at war. Sounds a lot like the Democrat leadership which is showcased every night on the 3 major network newscasts. The kool-aid is being dispensed and it is being consumed!!!!
The other problem I see hear is that the Republican Party is wasting a good opporunity to take control of the election and nail the leftwing Dems on their record of anti-American activity in their hindrance and harrassment of this administration to prosecute this war to victory. The Democrats have continually at every opporunity sabotaged the war effort even in the face of all reports stating the "Surge" in Iraq is successful. Failure in Iraq cannot be an option if we value our freedom and security in this great country o ours. I do blame the President for his inability to prosecute this war at home. He has been a great disappointment to me in many ways but I still cringe at the thought of Sen. Kerry as our Commander in Chief.

Well, I am back after some nasty computer problems have kept me out of commission. I could not wait to get back here especially after the goings on with the "Bumper-sticker" attacks in Scotland and the "Bumper-sticker" announcement by Al-Qaeda to inflict more harm on the West. If any of you are wondering why I am using the term "Bumper-sticker", it is because that is the way Democrat Preisdential Candidate John Edwards has referred to the war on terror. Meaning the war is a sham, only good for a "bumper sticker."  But, I also believe that the entire Democrat leadership feels and thinks the same way. Mr. Edwards is the only one to really come out an verbalize it. 

The truth is, this country is at war and at war with a very determined enemy. This week the Democrats led by the traitor Sen. Harry Reid is calling once again for removal of troops from the battlefield in Iraq.  Sen. Reid along with other Dems: Murtha, Pelosi, Clinton and Obama have already called the "Surge' in Iraq a failure.  Without any evidence to back their statements they have called the offensive by Gen Patraeus a failure. This is treasonous beyond words and each one of these Congressmen should be removed or at least censured. The truth in fact is that the Surge is succeeding. Sen. Lierberman gave very encouraging news concerning the offensive saying that the enemy is "on the run." Many warlords or sheiks in Anbar Province are switching sides to fight along the Iraqi and US troops. These people were forcibly made to fight alongside Al-Qaeda proeviously but now have the "freedom" to decide for themselves.

The media as usual gave us a different perspective on things this week. Did you know the President gave a Press Conference where he talked at length about the US offensive and commitment in Iraq? Ignored by the media except for Fox News. Did you know that Sen. McCain gave an impassioned speech on the Senate floor about why we fight and the successes of the current US offensive? The media ignored the speech but chose instead to report the firing of two of his campaign aides. Just a few things the Media missed this week.

Yes, we are fighting a war and the media doesn't want you to know about it and at best will only report negatives about the war. The surge is working and it is a success. The media and the Democrats can't report that so they instead report that the war isn't a war at all, but only a police action that Pres. Bush got us into for oil, Halliburton, revenge for his dad, the list is endless. The media will never report the truth to you because the Truth will set you free and you won't vote Democrat or Liberal again. The apporval rating of the President is in the 30s% but the approval rating for the Democrat Congress is lower around 23%. The lowest rating of a sitting Congress in history!! The American people are seeing what the Dems are really all about: bringing down the Presidency of George W. Bush at all costs. They are like rabid dogs foaming at the mouth to impeach and indict as many of Pres. Bush's aides and cabinet members as possible. Since the Democrats took control of the Congress in January there have been over 600 investigations into the President's administration. This is what the Democrats are all about and also have announced the greatest TAX Hike in US HIstory. That was snuck in there in the midst of the 600 investigations.

This country is at war and we need a government and a President that is willing to fight this war. The Democrats are only interested in gaining power and keeping it and establishing a Socialist Government. They would relinquish sovereignty and leave us at the mercy of Islamo-fascist terrorists bent on destroying us.

Yes we are at war: At war with Terrorists in Iraq and around the world but also at war with a fifth column Democrat Party who would sell us down the river simply to satisfy their own political agenda. I can't decide which is worse, so I say treat them all the same- get rid of them!!!

 As my blog is entitled “For God and Country” I thought I would use this Independence Day to explain the inseparable connection between Religion and Patriotism. As Americans we are a people of the “West” whose heritage comes from ancient Greece and Rome. Democracy was a product of the Western mind and specifically the Greek mind and the rules of law and republicanism from the Romans. But, also something quite important was inherited from our Greek and Roman ancestors- Patriotism. The word Patriotism is derived from the Latin word “patria” or father and describes love for the “fatherland” or love of country. Also patriotism was synonymous with piety. To be patriotic in ancient times was to be religious or pious. Impiety in ancient Greece and Rome was considered an act of treason. The early Christians were considered traitors by refusing the emperor his divine title. They were persecuted and viewed as a threat due to their treasonous behavior and not so much because of their love for Christ.

Each city-state and region in ancient times had patron gods and goddesses as Athens was named after the goddess Athena she was believed to be the patron and protector of that city. So it went that worship and reverence to Athena would be considered a pious act and a patriotic act as well. So it was in Rome with their gods and temples- it was considered pious and your patriotic duty to pay reverence to the gods who protected Rome and her Emperor. Not surprising that when Christianity took hold in the Roman Empire the gods were replaced by Jesus and the saints. All parts of the European continent were claiming their particular saint as patron and protector. In France it was St. Denis, England had St. George and Scotland with St. Andrew to name but a few examples. Shakespeare in his play Henry V has Prince Harry rallying his band of Englishmen with a rousing “For England and St. George!!!”

The love we have for God is a mirror image of our love of country. As human beings we are social creatures who need to belong to a place. Heaven is our eternal destination and through pious love for God we will attain our place in heaven. Countries and kingdoms are but a foreshadowing of the world to come. As we sojourn here on earth we ally ourselves with others in a country and it is in this context that we live out our faith and learn to love and respect our place of residence and bring about a place where we are proud to say I am an American. As Athenians were proud of their city and its culture and the Spartans of theirs and the Romans of theirs we must be proud to be Americans and build up what is good and publicly show affection for our great land of Freedom. As Aristotle once said: “Man can only attain his perfection, the pursuit of moral and intellectual virtue, in the context of a city.” It is in a free United States where we are able to enjoy the freedom of “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.” This could not have occurred without an inherent faith in God by our founding fathers. Professor Anthony Esolen of Providence College states it best: “No altar, no community: without the common bond of worship, men do not form a city or a nation, and this is true of America as it was of ancient Athens. No man will lend his heart to a low tax rate or to a system of national roads. But speak to him of liberty, and his eyes grow bright; tell him that honor was granted him by his Maker, and he will lay down his life, if need be, to ensure that the honor be respected, for himself and children, for all generations. So it is that the state can attain its perfection only by recognizing a divinity beyond it; if its dome is not the vault of stars above, it must collapse.”

Patriotism and religiosity are closely connected and when religion is flourishing so does patriotism. My daughter who attends college was shocked to find out how patriotism is viewed in academia- with ridicule and disdain. I wasn’t surprised at all. The media and academia which are fully entrenched in the ideology of secular humanism is very anti-religious so it is not surprising that with the daily attack on religion and faith in the United States and in Europe we see a rise in agnosticism, atheism, moral relativism and a disdaining cynical view of nations and their governments. The words I hear coming from the mouths of the Democrat leadership and now some Republicans are nothing short of treason and display a complete lack of patriotism and love of country. Their words of surrender and capitulation are subversive and demoralizing when you have troops on the field in active combat risking their lives on our behalf. The words of the Democratic leadership and candidates are supportive of a political agenda to which they show more allegiance than their own country. I will be plain and say that these politicians criticizing and hindering the war effort against the war on terror are TRAITORS and UNPATRIOTIC!

We live in the greatest and most powerful nation to have ever appeared on the face of the earth and what has this nation done with that power: welcomed refugees and immigrants from all over the world, fed the hungry, rebuilt nations, cured disease and liberated millions. I am proud to be an American and I am proud to say “I love my country!”

 Well, as mentioned in my blog "Massachusetts: Fascism at its Best" the legislative vote on a referendum on marriage took place on June 14, 2007 and was defeated.  The referendum question, was by no means an abolishment of Same-sex marriage. The referendum question simply would have let the citizens of Massachusetts vote on the definition of marriage. Even this simple request was considered too risky by the Dems and the Homosexual lobby. There was already support building for a probe by the DA's Office to investigate the "jobs for vote" offers by Gov. Patrick and his office. This report by the Boston Herald reporter Casey Ross, June 5, 2007:

“From what we’re hearing (of the job offers), the level of this would warrant a look by the (state) attorney general or the U.S. Attorney’s Office,” Mineau said yesterday. “If one were to read the laws about bribery in government, this would appear to fall into that category.”

“The pressure on our legislators is absolutely unprecedented,” Mineau said yesterday. He said the calls are not just coming from local gay marriage supporters, but from national officials such as Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-New York), Democratic Party chief Howard Dean and U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who held an event at the Park Plaza Hotel yesterday and a fund-raiser last night. As of the last official count, the proposed ban would pass by seven votes, but supporters of gay marriage have been lobbying fiercely to turn the tables.

A day prior to the vote, the supporters of the referendum felt they had a solid 14 votes in their favor but inexplicably and refusing comment after the vote 11 legislators suddenly changed their vote to stop the referendum. Neither of these legislators were willing to explain their sudden change of heart. In case you were wondering about the makeup of the Massachusetts State Legislature: 178 Democrats and 22 Republicans. A little lopsided to say the least. The Republican total is up from 6 only 7 years ago. Yes my fellow Americans, myself and 6 million of my fellow citizens live in a "ONE PARTY" state. It is next to impossible to oust our fat, murderous, drunken senior Senator Ted Kennedy and equally impossible to oust his compadre the traitor, fraud, and flip-flopper Sen. John Kerry.

The state of Massachusetts, birthplace of the Revolution is mired in the swamp of a sick, socialist, anti-american and UNDEMOCRATIC form of government. A tyrrany of the courts and agenda-driven judges. The citizens of Massachusetts are considered sheep to be sheared and led hither and yon. Hope to God that this does not become a disease which spreads across the nation. A distinct possibility as evidenced by the above mentioned Democrats who lobbied vigorously here for Homosexual Marriage. Hilary Clinton and the Democrats must be defeated by ANY MEANS possible!

I know this may be a strange title to some and perhaps most people but please bear with me and I will explain. First, the title comes from the exchange between a "British tourist and an American serviceman still on active duty. During a recent visit to a site on the famous "Freedom Trail" in Boston an American Serviceman overheard a British tourist say "Why can't Americans fight in wars they believe in anymore?" When I was told of the incident by most reliable sources it really struck a nerve with me. Having visited England and watched their nightly newscasts, I saw that they were reporting exactly the view given them by CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, the NY Times, the Boston Globe, Washington Post etc., etc. Though I cannot control the image of the United States abroard, I can certainly comment on why we have this image. The American media by and large is of the leftist or Liberal way of thinking. Since September 11, 2001 the Liberal Media has questioned the moral authorization of this country to wage war against its enemies. The Democrat party has politically tried to keep its hands clean by voting for the war but sabotaging it at every step as evidenced by the latest game of political footsie in the war-spending bill which was finally signed 2 months after the date it was truly needed. Our troops were running out of ammunition, medical supplies, food, and everything else necessary to sustain themselves on a war footing all because the Dems had to create the look of "anti-war" to its leftwing constituency.

Back to my point and the title of this article- The media has created this false impression to the world that the American people are against this war and that is simply not the case. Most Americans understand that the consequences of surrender in Iraq is tantamount to national suicide. That is the fundamental difference between Iraq and Vietnam. Our troops have fought bravely and with conviction. Recruitment is up and morale is high amongst our military. The average American, of course, does not like war but it understands that necessity to defend oneself and defending your country. Whether you are a Liberal ostrich who wishes to bury its head in the sand and pretend that the mean jihadist-Islamo-fascist-terrorist really doesn't hate us and they really don't want to hurt us. The truth of the matter is- THEY DO HATE US AND THEY DO WANT TO DO US HARM-KILL US.! The Democrats have officially decided not to use the term "War on Terror" nor "Global War on Terror." If we don't call it a war then it's not a war- How about that?
America is fighting this war because of 3,000 dead innocents murdered on September 11, 2001. The US is not beholden to anybody, let alone the UN or any nation when it comes to defending itself and protecting the lives of 300 million Americans. The English rightly have fought alongside the US and have had their country racked with Islamo-terrorism: July 7, 2005. Americans do believe in fighting this war, and it was not the war which cost the GOP its majority it was scandal after scandal. No Democrat candidate campaigned and won on an anti-war platform. The DNC and its leftist leadership has used their majority to promulgate this anti-war platform but in the end- you all saw what happened- When it came time to end this war by roll-call vote the Dems caved to President Bush's vetoes and voted to fund the war once more.

In the end the British tourist, after a beratement by the American Serviceman as to why he and his wife (also active military) were willing to fight in Iraq. Willing to fight for freedom even for "his" freedom to visit and enjoy the beauty which is America in a relatively safe and free manner, was most apologetic and remorseful but as I heard the story the American Serviceman was not accepting of it. The media has a lot to answer for in the US. Sen. Reid, Rep. Murtha, Speaker Pelosi, etc, are nothing more than TRAITORS in my eyes. The Democrat party is treasonous in its efforts to stop this war even while American Servicemen and women are still fighting and dying. To make statements such as the Democrat legislators have made- comparing our soldiers to Nazis, the war is lost by Sen. Reid, or that "this is Pres.Bush's war" by Sen. Clinton- these statements are treasonous. The Media which promulgates and supports these remarks are equally traitorous.

No my dear readers- the Americans believe in fighting and WINNING this war despite what is put forth by CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC, the NY Times, the Boston Globe, Washington Post etc..

On June 14, 2007 the Massachusetts State Legislature will vote on whether the citizens of Massachusetts have the right to decide via referendum the question of Homosexual Marriage. Though I am against Homosexual Marriage and a Massachusetts citizen this article is more about the tactics being used by the Democrat Party in shoving this idea down our throats. As with most other matters of morals and ethics the Democrats choose to circumvent the "People" and deal strictly through the courts. It is no surprise that decisions such as abortion, and other right-to-life issues have been decided throught lawsuits and appeals. The decision to allow Homosexual Marriage in Massachusetts was brought forth via a lawsuit by a Lesbian couple who wished to be married. The lawsuit as expected ended up on the desk of the Mass. Supreme Court. The Court ruled that the civil rights of homosexual persons were denied when their choice to marry is not permitted. By the way the plaintiff Lesbian couple on whose behalf the Marriage law was changed were married and in little over a year have since divorced. Governor Romney at that time, and to his credit, was the leading voice for traditional marriage and used every means to have the "marriage" question brought before the citizens as a referendum question. Twice the legislature would not vote on the question fearing the backlash by Gay and Lesbian supporters. But the  the citizens of Massachusetts would not give up and over 200,000 signatures were collected via petition to drive this movement toward referendum. The Gay and Lesbian supporters actually threatened many of the signatories of the petition with harrassment at their own private residences. The addresses of many signatories appeared on Gay and Lesbian action group websites as a form of harrassment. Despite all of this the legislature is now being forced to act.
The Democrat Party is not a party of liberal thinkers if we use the word liberal in its literal sense. There is no tolerance of dissension when it comes to the War in Iraq, Abortion, Homosexual Marriage, etc. in the DNC. So it is in the Democrat Party in Massachusetts.
Massachusetts is a one party state and that party is Democrat. It is very difficult to effect any change especially conservative change in this state. A little background of the makeup of the Mass. Legislature: The Massachusetts State Congress has maybe 8-10 Republicans while the Democrats have the remaining 120 or so seats. It has been like this forever and is why my state has the most liberal of laws, heaviest of taxes and two of the longest serving Democrats in Congress- The traitors Sen. Kennedy and Sen. Kerry. It is impossible to unseat these morons. The Democrat Party in Massahucestts is a well-oiled political machine. During the last Gubernatorial election certain pro-Democrat union members bullied and physically assaulted supporters of the rival Republican Gubernatorial candidate Kerry Healy. The newly elected governor- Democrat Deval Patrick- card -proponent of Homosexual Marriage has openly courted legislators with patronage such as key committee memberships and pork money if they vote to ban the referendum vote. The head of a Homosexual PAC declared in a public interview that, and I am paraphrasing, "now that we have the power (The courts, governor and new pro-gay Senate President) we should use it every way we can to push for pro-gay legislation." So, the will of the people of Masschusetts is to be ignored because "the agenda" is more important than Democracy. The signature campaign sploken of previously was done in a very short period of time and this frightened the Democrats and their homosexual allies.
Now where is the voice of the opposition? The supporters of traditional marriage are many but their voice is not loud enough. Their greatest supporter- Gov. Romney is not here and on the campaign trail. The churches are meek and as silent as lambs. Though the Catholic Church has publicly spoken against Homosexual Marriage, shamefully its priests and pastors refuse to speak against abortion let alone homosexual marriage. This opposition is strictly a grassroots movement and needs the support of all people who love God, love freedom and love DEMOCRACY. I urge all people from all parts to call the Massachusetts Legislature at 617-722-2000 and voice your opinion in support of this referendum. The will of the people cannot be ignored.
We are the "government of the people, by the people and for the people."

The recent comments of Pope Benedict and the death of the Rev. Jerry Falwell have again brought forth the question of "What is the role of religion in public life? In his recent trip to Brazil, Pope Benedict reiterated and supported the practice of refusing Holy Communion to Pro-abortion politicians. And rightly so, since the Catholic Church regards all abortion as the murder of innocent life. According to the Church and the Bible, the reception of Holy Communion in the state of "mortal sin" is bringing condemnation on the recipient. The Church has a pastoral obligation to counsel Catholics when they risk bringing condemnation upon themselves. The Church is acting out of love and concern when she puts forth such declarations. In fact the Church isn't excommmunicating those persons, but those persons excommunicate themselves. Now, in the middle of all this we have 18 Catholic Congressmen making the following public statement: "Religious sanction in the political arena directly conflicts with our fundamental beliefs about the role of democratic representatives in a pluralistic America -- it clashes with freedoms guaranteed in our Constitution. Such notions offend the very nature of the American experiment and do a great disservice to the centuries of good work the church has done." This is the most flagrant attack against free speech and religious liberty this reader has seen in his lifetime. Also, there is a bill in the House of Representatives-House Resolution 2093. According to American Center of Law and Justice (ACLJ): This legislation ... currently being considered in the House of Representatives ... could not be in greater opposition to what our Founding Fathers intended when they wrote the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. House Resolution 2093 would drastically affect churches that speak out on issues like partial-birth abortion, same-sex marriage, conservative judicial nominees, and military chaplains' right to pray. It would also impact Christian groups using TV, radio, or the Internet to mobilize citizens around an issue. Under the bill, pastors, church leaders, advocacy organizations and even individuals could be compelled to register as lobbyists. Failure to comply with this bill could result in fines in excess of $50,000.
The Rev.Jerry Falwell was the prime mover in giving a voice to religious persons, and religious influence in the public sector. He correctly saw that people of faith have to bring their faith into their everyday lives. What purpose does Faith have but to influence the lives of all people. I am a Catholic and yes the decisions I make throughout the day are formed basically in the framework of a "Catholic/Christian" conscience. How then, if I believe in good conscience as a Catholic, support a politician that advocates and promotes abortion? It is in of itself INCOMPATIBLE. As Christians we are commanded by Christ "to be the light of the world." How can we allow such pro-death laws to exist? Rev.Falwell helped to transform the Republican Party from the party of Goldwater and Nixon in which the party only stood for big business and only big business.  Rev.Falwell in his creation of the Moral Majority and a "Religious Right" was able to bring social issues into the platform of the Republican Party when before the Party had no answers but "NO" to the social issues confronting this country. The role of religion in American society is most significant- The Abolitionist Movement of the 19th century was founded by people with a Christian conscience and concern. The Civil Rights movements of the 1960s was led by a Protestant Minister- Martin Luther King. This is no accident of history, it is instead the logical result of people with a religious faith acting on their beliefs.
In summary Religion is under attack in this country. Liberties gauranteed by the Constitution are being corrupted and twisted to deny religious people their right to practice and speak out. Religion has every right to be heard in the public square,and must be heard. As a Catholic I hope and pray that our American Bishops (So far acting like sheep rather than shepherds) take to heart what the Pope has stated and enforce the teachings of the Church of which they swore to defend. As for Rev. Falwell, I pray for him and his family and congregation and hope that all ministers of God act on their beliefs without fear of their Leftist-Liberal opponents in the media and politics and help to build a "Culture of Life and Justice."
